A Bake Bold Masterclass with Paul Hollywood #HollywoodBakes

22nd March 2016

A couple of weeks ago I attended a Bake Bold Masterclass with Britain’s best known baker Paul Hollywood, where he revealed his brand new artisan-inspired baking mixes.

The son of a baker, Paul Hollywood has been baking since he was really young, and originally trained as a sculptor before his father persuaded him to join the family business.

Almost half of the UK bakes at least once a week but some lack confidence. Hollywood wanted to encourage people to be more adventurous when baking at home and to give artisan baking a go, and so created his new, easy-to-use, artisan-inspired baking mix range.

The mixes are easy to follow, with Paul’s step-by-step guides and hints and tips which allow you to step out of your comfort zone and attempt to bake something you’ve never tried before.

Paul Hollywood says: “I’m passionate about inspiring more people to bake more adventurously. My new range of mixes are so easy to use, give people the confidence to start experimenting with hand-crafted baking without the risk of failure and I really believe this range will inspire people to get in the kitchen and start baking.”

The range consists of bread, savoury, and sweet baking mixes, with twelve different products available, including a Garlic and Herb Tear ‘n’ Share Mix and Luxurious Belgian Chocolate Brownies; both of which we got to see Paul make quickly and simply on the day (along with a couple of blogging helpers), and then we got to try them. They were both lovely (particularly the brownies!), and they would be perfect if you were having a little party. The finished products look brilliant, and like you have made loads of effort when it fact they didn’t take long at all.

I don’t bake a lot, although I do always intend to try because I’d love to have freshly baked bread and cakes in my house regularly. Plus Ava is really getting into cooking at the moment, so it gives us something fun to do together. The fact that these baking mixes only require a few household ingredients and are very straightforward to make, means that I feel more comfortable attempting them and are a great way for me to get into baking, without getting overwhelmed with complicated techniques.

The mixes use only the highest quality ingredients, including British flour and real Belgian chocolate, which I really like. The entire range only requires very basic additional ingredients such as water, oil, eggs or butter, depending on the bake, so it is all stuff you will usually have in at home anyway.

The baking range is available at Morrisons, Sainsburys, Tesco, Waitrose and Ocado.

I was invited to hear Paul Hollywood talk about his new baking mixes, but all thoughts and opinions are my own.
