About Birds and Lilies

Hi! I’m Louise, a thirty-something mum of one little girl. I live in Nottingham, England with her, a boy and our cat; but have a longing to live somewhere warmer. This is my blog.

Birds and Lilies was started in 2012 when my daughter was six months old, after I had left my old social media marketing blog behind, and wanted to write about my new life as a mum and hopefully create something that meant I could stay at home with my daughter whilst doing something that I love.

Essentially, this blog is all about my life, and my thoughts and feelings on different things. We tried for our daughter for four years and went through two rounds of IVF : I blog about that as well as parenting, food, wine, travel, beauty and style, weddings, mental health, our day-to-day life and wine. I like wine.

My favourite posts to write are those that just spill out of my brain, and are real and honest – and they seem to be the ones my readers like the most too.

I’m a blogger and freelance writer, which I love, and I feel so grateful that I get to do this full time around school runs and family time. I have been lucky enough to work with lots of brands; both big and small, and I love working hard to create content that we are both happy with.

I can be rather sarcastic and I think I’m quite funny sometimes. I might be the only one who does. Oh and I love lists, and I make a lot.

I am always late, but I wish I wasn’t and it is something that I am always working on. I am quite shy until I get to know you. Then, once I do, I talk far too much and never stop.

I really want to learn to play the piano, and to salsa. My dream is to travel across America (in a car with its top down). I try to exercise regularly but I am annoyingly inconsistent with it, and I am really interested in health and wellness, and I love finding remedies or products that can help with my health in a more natural way and help me to live a more balanced life. I go to bed too late and I drink too much wine and tea. I also take lots of supplements, drink a lot of water, eat coconut oil, drink lemon water, and make my own healthy chocolate.

If I had to describe myself, I would say I am friendly, emotional, sensitive, impatient, self-conscious, stubborn, caring, happy, petulant, a bit of a drama queen, and I’m always right.

When I asked my daughter to describe me in three words she said: ‘I love you more than anything else in the whole wide world’. She’s not so great at counting.

It’s really lovely to have you here, I hope you enjoy reading.

I would love to hear from you. You can contact me via email at [email protected], or connect with me on Twitter or Facebook.

My wonderful Daughter, Ava.
