An Amazing Customer Service Experience at Lush, Nottingham

11th April 2016

When I was young(er) I used to go to Lush occsionally. I didn’t spend much there, but I did buy the odd bubble bar and bath bomb and I loved that smell that emanated from the open doors. I was a teen when it first opened  and it was all very exciting and new.

Then I guess I lost interest and never really went in again. But recently Ava’s taken an interest in bath bombs and so I decided that during half term I would take her into town and let her choose a couple of fun bath bombs.

I was looking forward to going again myself after so long and maybe choosing something fun or lovely for myself. So on Friday when we were meeting my friends for lunch we decided to pop in after.

I started looking and a nice lady started talking to me and Ava. Then she told me about the thing they’d had on with kids that afternoon and said let me take Ava to try out some bath bombs and bubble bars. So off she went and (almost) disappeared with another lady who worked there, for five minutes whilst I talked cleansers and eye creams with the nice lady and tested them out.

Then I wandered over to find Ava with her hands in some bubbly, coloured water having tons of fun chatting to the Lush lady and another young girl. They were breaking bits of bubble bars and bath bombs into the water and talking about the colours. It was brilliant! She was having so much fun and it was such a spontaneous and unexpected little thing for her to do, especially for free.

The nice lady gave me a decent sample of eye cream, then when I mentioned to her about Ava’s slight eczema sometimes and asked if there were any particular bath bombs that would be good, or ones to avoid – she recommended a couple, then disappeared and came back with about quarter of a pot of their ‘Dream Cream‘ for me to try on Ava for her eczema!

I wandered around a bit more, chose a bath bomb for myself (Avobath) and the ‘Ickle Baby Bot‘ for Ava as it should be quite soothing on her skin, and then asked her which she would like to choose. She picked the really cool ‘Intergalactic‘ bath bomb and we also chose ‘The Comforter’ Bubble Bar that we’ll share.

We then talked about the events that they have on for kids in the Easter holidays – every afternoon during the school holidays Lush allow children to come in for a couple of hours and make one of their products with them – how cool is that?! I’ve heard about it before, but Ava was a bit young at the time, and then I completely forgot. You just pay for the price of the product they have made, which I think is amazing.

After that we thanked them all and got into the the queue to pay. I then got distracted by lip scrubs; both lovely ladies came and chatted to us both again (I’d already chosen one so it wasn’t like they were trying to get the sale) and then we got back in the queue.

The first nice lady then gave us a small sample of some ‘Fun‘ (weird name, I know) for Ava to try, and then when I asked about the ingredients of one of the ‘Razzle Dazzle’ bath oils on the counter she passed me one of those too as I was walking out!

We spent a decent amount of money, but we got loads of extra things thrown in too and Ava had so much fun! I’ve never really written about customer service or anything like that before, but we had such a great experience at the Nottingham Lush and I was blown away by how fun they made it for Ava. We’re going to go back this week to one of the afternoon sessions and Ava can’t wait.
