Bathroom Chemistry: A Collection of Luxury Bath Products // The Candles

As I have mentioned in my previous posts, I have been working with Heritage Bathrooms on their Bathroom Chemistry campaign, to find the perfect ingredients for a luxury bathing experience – those products that are essential for ultimate relaxation and comfort. I’m representing the Lifestyle and Parenting category, and over the last few months I have been thoroughly testing 19 luxury bath and skincare products.

I have tested bubble baths and oils, hair masks, face masks, hand and body lotions and candles to find my favourites, and those products I can’t live without.

THE REVIEWS

The products have been split up into five categories:

  • Bath bubbles and oils
  • Candles
  • Body Lotions
  • Hair Masks
  • Skincare

Last week I shared my reviews of the Bath Bubbles and Oils, and today I am sharing my thoughts on the Candles….

The Candles

The White Company Limited Edition White Rose Candle

When it comes to homeware I love a simple look – I’m not into really decorative or ornate things; and The White Company completely fits that. This limited edition white rose candle is beautifully simple and I really like it. I have to admit I can’t particularly smell the white rose – but I quite like that. Candles that are too overpowering give me migraines and can just be far too much to have burning for long – this smells clean and fresh and looks really pretty to have lit. It costs £16 for the votive which I have, and I actually expected it to be more. I think it would make a lovely luxury gift, without spending a fortune.

It is exactly my style and preferred scent and I love it.

Lily Flame Secret Garden (Through Twilight’s Haze) Candle

I’ll be honest – I don’t love this candle from Lily Flame. The packaging is not really to my taste – I never think a tin looks as good as a glass jar (although they do have jars available too), and even though it does look nice in my bathroom, it is not something I would choose myself.

I also don’t really like the smell that much – it very unfortunately reminds me of a toilet spray. I am very fussy with candle scents though, and the brand do a huge range of smells – many of which sound really appealing; this one just isn’t for me. It only costs £8.95 though so they are a very good price – especially if you want to try one before going for a larger size. I also really like that the are handmade in Somerset, and I have found that it burns for a really long time.

Wax Lyrical RHS Rose Candle

heritage luxury bath products

This is a really pretty candle, with a strong rose fragrance that can be a bit too much if you have it close to you without burning it. However, it gives a room a lovely scent, even when not lit, and is nice and subtle when burning. Sometimes I like a rose scent, and sometimes I hate it, but this I really like. I was actually shocked to discover it is only £10 as it looks and smells a lot more expensive than that.

After a while it does seem to burn quicker than some candles, but it still lasts a good amount of time – and I have also been using it quite a lot as I really like it. The candle has a sort of clean rose smell to it, not fake at all and I always love a candle in a glass jar.

I love having candles lit all around the house, so I pleased to have been able to add a few more to my collection! I would definitely repurchase the White Company candle and the Wax Lyrical one, and would try some different scents from Lily Flame.

Do you have a favourite candle or favourite scent?

Heritage Bathrooms sent me all of these products as part of the ‘Bathroom Chemistry’ campaign, but all thoughts and opinions are my own.

My favourite candle is Parma Violets by Lily-Flame. I think Lily-Flame scented candles are reasonably priced too. :-)

Ooh, that sounds interesting! I don’t like actual Parma Violets (does anyone?!), but I can imagine a candle of it smelling quite nice! x
