Living Danishly, Loving Yourself, and Actual Crafting #LittleLoves

19th February 2016

Hi! This week has been a little disappointing really – it’s obviously half term and Ava has been poorly all week. I feel like I am always saying that, but she does seem to get ill a lot in the winter. She has had a cough for weeks and is not sleeping well, then she got a sickness bug, and then once that was over her cold got worse again! She can’t stop coughing the poor thing, especially at night. She does finally seem more like her usual self again today though which is bloody lovely. Having said that she is asleep whilst I’m writing this, so I think she wore herself out this morning being a bit more lively!

Welcome to this weeks Little Loves!

read

I have started to read ‘ The Year of Living Danishly‘ after another blogger (I can’t remember who, sorry!) recommended it. I haven’t got very far yet but I’m enjoying it so far. It’s about a stressed Londoner called Helen, who is suddenly given the opportunity of a new life with her husband in Denmark. Danes are apparently amongst the happiest people on earth and she gives them a year to try and uncover the formula for Danish happiness (must be the pastries, right?).

watched

I have been watching more tv again this week. I have watched more Pretty Little Liars which I have been enjoying, although it also drives me crazy with it’s over-the-top-ness, and them having to over-explain everything so that we definitely, definitely understand what they are trying to tell us…

I also finally started watching Catastrophe which I really like. It’s really easy to watch and I really like the style of humour, and that within the first twelve minutes of the first one, the word c*nt was used! (Sorry! I like the word!)

made

We actually made something this week, before Ava got ill! I actually don’t have to fill this section with nonsense about making dinner (or not making dinner), or making the bed, or some other hilarious anecdote.

Ava got a lovely craft box thingy from our lovely friends for Christmas (although I’m less inclined to call them friends after attempting to make this lion), and she asked if we could make something from it the other day. So we got it out and I picked the ‘easiest’ thing ( it was never really going to be easy for me). I even managed to ‘stitch’ it wrong (despite the fact that it was ‘stitching’ through pre-cut holes with a plastic needle), because I didn’t read the instructions properly. It didn’t actually matter and Ava loves her lion – so it doesn’t matter that I am incredibly shit at crafts. She then made some of the masks from the set with tissue paper and glitter, which is still currently decorating my entire house.

wore

We haven’t worn much this week other than pyjamas and comfy clothes, as Ava has been poorly. But here are some of the things Ava has worn in the last couple of weeks.

ava wrapped up

She wore this cute, cosy outfit to the Stratstone event that we went to – it was coooold.

ava party dress

And this to her best friend from nursery’s birthday party. She doesn’t have any smart shoes that fit her at the moment and I’m not buying some that may not get worn again, but I think she looked pretty cool in this.

Oh and I haven’t mentioned my even-blonder hair here yet – it is BLONDE. Like, really blonde. I still can’t decide about it. I feel like it’s maybe a bit too much for me and I need some darkness through it still. I just don’t think it suits my skintone very well. It looks so different in different light too, so it’s really hard to tell.

new blonde hair

Please excuse the crap photo. I think it actually looks better here than it does in real life.

heard

I keep hearing Justin Bieber ‘Love Yourself’ everywhere at the moment, and I really like it. I have a new affection for him that I didn’t discover until recently. I’m right back into the cheese at the moment. And I really like the Little Mix and Jason Derulo song ‘Secret Love Song’ too. I have no idea if it is a very recent song or not – and here I was thinking I’d always know current music!

& lastly...

The blues skies we’ve been having this week have really been cheering me up. It makes such a noticeable difference to my mood when there is sun streaming through the windows, instead of dull, grey skies. I love it. It makes it feel like Spring is on it’s way!

I’m definitely feeling more positive about things this week – I finally have a few things to look forward to, including seeing a couple of my blogging friends in London next week, and then hopefully London with my family next month!

Hope you’ve had a great week, and enjoyed your half term xx

  1. Poor Ava, hope she’s feeling better soon. She looks so proud of her lion bless her. Love your hair blonde, it really suits you. It’s funny going from dark to blonde and does take some getting used to. I go back and forward from blonde to dark all the time (I get bored way too easily) and even I find it a shock when I first change the colour. Have a good weekend x

  2. We’ve had a poorly half term here too, none of us can shift this cold/flu.

Your hair is looking lovely and I absolutely love that lion! It’s really cute. Ava was looking lovely too. Sorry she’s not feeling well. It’s been like that here for months now, it seems on of us is constantly battling off one bug or another. Roll on warmer months I say!! xxx
