Sisterhood of the World // A Tag

30th May 2016

My lovely friend Maria from Suburban Mum asked me to do the the ‘Sisterhood of the World’ tag and despite its annoying name (sorry to whoever created it – but I just want to talk about travelling pants) I thought I would join in. The idea is to just find out a bit more about each other.

Here are the questions and my answers:

What’s the best thing about blogging?

I can’t decide between the friends I’ve made, the actual writing part, or the money. I love so much about blogging and what it has given me, and it just keeps getting better and better. But apart from the fact that doing something I love has meant I don’t have to get a job, the best thing has been the wonderful, supportive friends I have made through blogging. I have gone on about it loads, but I’ve only really had proper blogging friends for the last eight months or so and it has just made such a difference to the whole thing for me. We talk every day and are all there for each other for blog and life stuff and it’s brilliant. It makes such a difference having that as a blogger.

What is your most popular/favourite blog post?

My Infertility Story is probably my favourite and my most popular. It is my most personal post and I have had such a great response to it, with people sharing their stories and giving me their support. It’s lovely.

What is your favourite place to go to as a family?

Cornwall probably. I love it so much; it’s such a beautiful place and I have had an amazing time every time I’ve been. The beaches are beautiful and rival those abroad and it’s just perfect with kids. We’ve only been with Ava once a couple of years ago but it was such a brilliant week with burning sunshine and eight hundred ice creams. I really want to go back.

Something you’ve never done but would like to try?

I really, really want to ride a horse across a beach. And Skydive.

What is your favourite time of year and why?

I think Spring can be so beautiful and fresh feeling, but my favourite is definitely summer. I love it when it’s hot and sunny and I just feel so much more free and happy in the summertime. I also look so much better with a tan, so I feel better about myself and have more confidence. I love not having to wear a coat and being able to sit outside in the evenings with a glass of wine.

What was your favourite children’s book?

That’s a hard question. I really loved ‘The Magic Faraway Tree‘ by Enid Blyton and I can’t wait to read it to Ava one day. That series of books was just so magical and exciting as a kid and I really wanted to go there.

What was the last movie you watched?

Insurgent. It wasn’t very good though. I really enjoyed the books (the Divergent series) and the first film was ok but I didn’t really like this one.

What is your favourite dessert?

Oh, it really varies. I was always a chocolate pudding kind of girl, but over the winter I really enjoyed Sticky Toffee Pudding and I love Apple Pie and Crumble too. I have had some AMAZING Profiteroles from M&S recently though – probably the best I’ve ever had. And I’ve had a lot.

If you could magically do one thing, what would you do?

Either fly or be invisible. I think fly because it would just feel amazing, wouldn’t it? But it would be nice to be invisible sometimes – although I often feel like I am anyway, hahaha…

What is the most disgusting thing you’ve ever eaten?

I don’t think they’re disgusting but I’m sure lots of people think mussels are pretty disgusting. I love them though. I can’t really think of anything completely disgusting that I’ve eaten. When we were travelling years ago we were on a very packed, stuffy bus in Vietnam, and there was this old Vietnamese lady sat next to us in the aisle of the bus. She cracked (ha!) out these little baby birds, laughed at our repulsed faces and bit their heads off. That was a pleasant journey.

I adored The Magic Faraway Tree! My mum used to take me to the local book shop every month to buy a new Enid Blyton book. It had a spiral staircase at the back and the whole thing was just magical! I hope my son loves books as much as I do when he is older x
