Summer Entertaining with Denby

Summer is my very favourite time of year. I love warm days, spending time outdoors, enjoying more time as a family, and life just feeling more relaxed. The summer holidays are coming up really soon, and I’m looking forward to some lazy days with Ava, free from the school runs or any particular routine.

I want to spend lots of time outside with her, filling our days up with fresh air and sunshine, as well as having plenty of lazy days at home cooking, baking and crafting (her, not me).

I’ve recently been cooking a bit more, and I’m really enjoying it. Part of it for me is making it all look nice – I love putting it onto pretty plates and dishes, and presenting it all nicely on the table. Maybe it’s partly the blogger in me, wanting to get nice photos, but whatever it is, I really enjoy it.

Denby Pottery very kindly sent me some of their lovely Deli range, which is absolutely perfect for summer and entertaining family and friends, with sharing bowls and platters of cured meat and cheeses. I feel like I’ve grown up with Denby – I’ve always known of it and for me it is synonymous with quality and well known for not breaking easily (which is great when I’m the clumsiest oaf in the world). My Mother-in-law has always had it and I always think it looks so lovely. Some of the ranges I feel are a little grown-up for me, which is ridiculous of course, but I don’t feel like a responsible adult most of the time.

I love the Deli range though, I love the casual-ness of the mix of colours, and the quality is obviously amazing. I recently invited my mum and step-dad over for a chilled Sunday lunch, mainly so I could use my new Denby crockery! I have the Always Entertaining Deli 4 Piece Medium Coupe Plate Set, the 4 Piece Pasta Bowl Set, and the 2 Piece Small Rectangular Platter Set, and I love them all.

They can all be used in the oven, dishwasher, freezer and microwave, as always with Denby and I’m sure they will last us such a long time.

The collection has been made in England and hand-crafted by skilled artisans. The products are all made from stoneware using Denby’s renowned iron-rich clay and crafted in Derbyshire in the same way for over 200 years. This range is designed for modern living and features a number of versatile pieces; a Small Bowl that can be used for dips, individual salads and sides, Rice bowl ideal for rice dishes or ice cream, Pasta Bowls, Coupe Plates in two sizes, Shallow Bowl prefect for olives and slaws and a Set of 4 Nesting Bowls which are great for serving everything from pasta and salads.

I’m really happy with my new plates, bowls and platters and have used them loads since I got them. They look great, and are very robust (I’ve checked a few times!) and are especially perfect for the summer months.
