Recently I have been working on a really interesting campaign with Activia, called ‘Feed Your Inner Smile’ – a new drive for 2016 all about celebrating how great you feel, and how much more you get out of life, when you look after yourself – inside and out.
It’s something I really believe in, and have been trying to live by over the last couple of years. The campaign is on TV, print, digital and social, so you may well have come across it already!
Activia is working with a group of the UK’s top health and wellbeing influencers (apparently that includes me!!) to help women across the country feed their inner smiles :) Activia will be sharing our stories, tips, and advice on how you can feel good, by looking after your mind, body, and soul.
Feeding your inner smile is all about being happy on the inside, so that you can be happy on the outside too. For me this means eating well, as well as looking after my mind and body; by exercising, taking the time to relax and to switch off from social media and the online world.
All of this has been really important to me over the last couple of years, and I have made a big effort to improve my overall mood and wellbeing. I exercise (mostly) consistently now, I drink a warm lemon water first thing every morning, and I fill my body up with real food.
As we all know, getting enough sleep is also really important for our overall wellbeing, and it is one thing that I really struggle with. There just aren’t enough hours in the day, so I often go to bed later than I ideally should, and when I do finally get there I struggle to sleep a lot of the time. But it is something that I’m working on, as I know how much happier I am, and how much better I feel when I do get more sleep.
When I feel better on the inside, everything just seems that little bit easier – I am a better mum, I am a nicer person to be around, and I don’t get quite so overwhelmed with the little things that get so on top of me. Making the effort to look after myself more has made a huge difference to how I feel overall.
I think this is a great campaign to get women thinking about taking the time to look after themselves, and focus on improving their health and wellness from the inside, so that they can hopefully improve their happiness and wellbeing overall. As women and mothers we often don’t make the time to look after ourselves, when it is really important that we do, for our families benefit, as well as our own.
