Vax Air Cordless Lift Upright Vacuum Cleaner // A Review

16th March 2016

As we have two cats our house needs hoovering A LOT. Those bloody cat hairs get everywhere and it feels like as soon as I’ve hoovered the lounge carpet is a mess again.

I’ve never really minded hoovering as far as housework goes, but I can’t be bothered with the faff of getting a heavy hoover out and messing with wires and then unplugging and re-plugging it in each room. So I bloody LOVE a cordless vacuum cleaner. It makes a world of difference to the faff of hoovering regularly and having a cordless one has seriously changed my life (I must be nearly middle aged).

Recently I was sent the Vax Air Cordless Lift Upright Vacuum Cleaner, which combines cordless convenience with an innovative life-out cyclinder enabling you to clean both floors and other areas with ease.

The Vax Air Cordless Lift Upright Vacuum Cleaner has the following features:

The really great thing about the cordless functionality with this vacuum cleaner is that it has a sixty minute run time, along with another battery so that you can always have one fully charged. I had another cordless hoover before I has this one which I love, but it lasts less than twenty minutes, which means I can’t quite do my entire house in one go. The Vax seems to last forever before the rechargeable battery runs out, which means I can hoover my entire house without having to wait for it to recharge to continue (which is really annoying to have to do).

The lift-out cyclinder is a great feature – it pops out easily and quickly and completely separates from the Vax’s main body, so you have a really lightweight cleaner to do things like the stairs, sofas, or your car, without dragging around the whole thing. It is also great for getting cobwebs off walls and from in corners easily.

I presumed the vacuum’s ‘headlights’ would be a bit of a gimmick – but actually I really like them. When using the vacuum in slightly darker areas of the house, it does make it a bit easier to see and make sure you have got all of the dirt.

The Vax in general works really well, it seems to pick up all the dirt and cat hairs from our carpets, and also does a good job on laminate and wooden flooring. It is a nice, sleek design and reasonably compact so it doesn’t take up a stupid amount of room. It is pretty easy to empty into a bin (when I finally make myself do it), and clicks in and out really easily. It holds a decent amount of dirt at a time – ideally you should empty it every time you use it, but we’re not living in an ideal world are we? And I am lazy.

The Vax Cordless Upright Cleaner does seem quite heavy when in use to me, but that could just be because I am used to a much lighter, simpler hoover. It is still light enough to be able to manoeuvre around easily though.

The attachments that come with it are good, although as far as I can tell (unless I’m being really stupid, which is entirely possible) there is only one holder on the actual vacuum to put them on. They don’t all fit together on one so you have to have a couple of loose tools floating around. In fact I’m not entirely sure where I’ve put them already. This seems to be the case with most vacuum cleaners, and I don’t really understand why. It’s a minor issue though, it’s just a bit annoying.

The ‘boost mode’ is a good functionality – the press of a button gives a more powerful performance to tackle stubborn dirt, pet hair and other areas that are walked on a lot. Cat hair can get really pressed into carpets, but this seems to do a really good job at lifting it out.

vax review

I really like the Vax Vacuum Cleaner, it does a very good job for it’s main purpose – cleaning floors, but I particularly love the lift-out cylinder. It makes cleaning the stairs and sofas where cats sit and malt all over, SO much easier, and if I ever get around to it, it will be brilliant for hoovering out my car. The fact that the battery lasts a really long time and I can therefore do my entire house all in one go is a huge plus, as is the most important feature for me – the fact it is cordless. It makes just getting on with a slightly crappy job a lot quicker and more bearable. The Vax Air Cordless Lift Upright Vacuum Cleaner is currently £249.95 here.

Thanks so much to Vax for sending me their Air Cordless Lift Upright Vacuum Cleaner to review.
