Beauty and the Beast, Issues, and Good Friends #LittleLoves

12th May 2017

Happy Friday!

Well, well, well. What a difficult few weeks it’s been for my family. I won’t go into it here as this is supposed to be my little loves, and I haven’t bloody loved the last few weeks I can tell you. I have written about it because I felt like I needed to, but I am not sure whether or not I will share it yet. How personal do you think is too personal when it comes to your blog? I’m sure it’s different for everyone, but do you think there are some things that nobody should talk about? I feel like I want to share it, but I’m not entirely sure why, and I would hate for anyone to think I was doing it to get sympathy or attention.

I guess I just feel like first and foremost my blog is a place for me to share my life and write about my thoughts and feelings, and so why shouldn’t I share something personal that I have been through. It is very personal though. I dunno. Let me know if you have an opinion on this!

Anyway back to my Little Loves. It’s a mish mash of things from over a few weeks to be honest, as otherwise I wouldn’t have much to write about! But I love joining in with Morgana’s Little Loves and reading other people’s posts, so I’m back.

Welcome to this weeks Little Loves!

Read

I keep starting books and then stopping and reading another and I’m doing my own head in. I still haven’t carried on with ‘The Girl on the Train’ from ages ago, and now I feel like it’s been so long that I’ll have to start it again, which is annoying.

A little while ago I started reading ‘The Christmasaurus‘ to Ava – a bit every evening – and it was really lovely to spend that bit of time together snuggled up in her bed and she really seemed to enjoy it. She asked for it every night and couldn’t wait to find out what happened next. We’d never read a longer book together before that but I’m so glad we did.

Now we’re reading ‘The Roald Dahl Treasury‘ which is a lovely book, although I completely hadn’t realised how violent some nursery rhymes are! Tales like The Three Little Pigs and Little Red Riding Hood just seemed so normal when I was young, but now they sound evil and everyone ends up dead! At least they do in this book anyway!

Watched

I have barely watched anything over the last few weeks; I just haven’t felt like it. I even have a couple of episodes of Scandal left, and have had no desire to watch yet, which is crazy because I binged on that for months.

I’ve been watching YouTube videos a bit though, and I’m particularly enjoying Mrs Meldrum and Lily Pebbles at the moment – I’ve watched them both for years and I really like them as people, as well as for the videos they make. Some vloggers seem to act and talk like they are about 16 despite the fact they are more like 28, so I like the ones that don’t do that!

Ava and I went to see Beauty and the Beast at the Showcase in Nottingham a few weeks ago and I absolutely loved it from start to finish. Honestly I was just so absorbed right from the beginning and I really wasn’t expecting to like it quite that much. I can’t wait to watch it again. Ava got a little scared at times (we had discussed the possibility before and she still wanted to go), but she really liked it too.

I also watched this at the weekend. And that requires no further comment.

Wore

I’ve pretty much lived in leggings, shirts and baggy t-shirts, which pretty much sums up the last few weeks. We did go for a spontaneous and very last-minute night away to Rutland Luxury Lodges though, so bikinis and swimsuits were the order of the day. A relaxing night away was exactly what the doctor ordered.

I also got my nails did for the first time in ages. I am not a purple kinda girl but I liked the colour and it’s Ava’s favourite so I went crazy and didn’t choose my usual bright red.

I did get my hair cut too. I’ve been trying to grow it to just past my shoulders but my follicles just weren’t having it, so I gave up and now feel much better. The length should be perfect for my holiday in a few weeks. Also, I love my hairdresser – he is so bloody lovely and it feels like I’m talking to a friend when I see him. Plus he’s alright at hair too 😉

Heard

I’ve heard this song a million times because I can’t stop listening to it – I just love it so much. In fact, both Ava and I seem to be singing it constantly and dancing to it together – I swear that girl has got so much natural rhythm (Ava, not Julia – although I’m sure she has too) and I’m so jealous! Speaking of music – you should definitely have a look at Cheap Vinyls UK when you’re after some new music – it lets you set up alerts for when the price drops – how cool is that?

Made

Sweet, sweet FA.

And lastly

My wonderful blogging friends sent me this lovely plant and some chocolates (to which Ava said immediately – “We should see what they’re like”). My chums are fricking awesome and I love them to bits. I think I hate the word chums though?

All of my friends have just been brilliant (I’m writing this for you so you don’t cry Kell), and are always there for me. I’m bloody lucky, I’ll tell you that for a bunch of bananas. Why am so full of weird sayings today?!

Hope you’ve had an ace week xx

  1. Sorry to hear you’ve had a tough few weeks. I find my blog is for letting things out and sharing things honestly, but I don’t think I’d share something too personal. If it would make you feel better to write it down though, I’d totally do it.. even if you don’t press publish! I cannot wait to read with my two, although I know we’re a little while off yet haha xx

Thank you lovely. I just can’t decide whether to or not! I like being honest on here too, so we’ll see! It’s so lovely reading with them – Ava’s always so excited to carry on every night and I love that xx

Lovely to have you back in the littleloves gang Louise!
In relation to sharing personal things, at the end of the day it’s up to you. Something major happened in my life earlier this year that was horrendous but I chose not to share it because it was for me to deal with and I didn’t want the whole world knowing about it – especially not my girls. I’m so pleased that I stuck to that decision now. Everyone is different and each circumstance is different though and if you feel sharing it would help you and even help others then do it.
Loving your nails and your hair. I love a good natter with my hair dresser too.
Hope you enjoy the weekend xxx

Thanks lovely. I remember when you had something going on – I really hope everything’s okay now, if it can be. Thank you, I may share it at some point, but not promote it at all, because I haven’t written it for that, if that makes any sense.

Thank you! Hope you have a lovely weekend too xxx

  4. Love the new hair – it looks amazing. I’m sorry to hear you’ve been having a tough time recently though #LittleLoves

  5. Sorry to hear you’ve been through such an awful time lately. Lovely to see you back with your #littleloves though. And your hair looks gorgeous! x

  6. You are rocking that look with your new hair style and nails. Sorry to read that you’re having a tough time, as others have suggested writing can be a really helpful release so why not write a post and publish when you are happy for it to be read or to be left unpublished. Its nice to read that you’ve been making sure there are lots of positive things in life too. Take care x

Oh thank you so much! I haven’t felt like I’ve been rocking anything recently! Yep I have already written it, so I may share it when the time is right. Thank you xx
