The Christmas Gift Guide for Kids Aged 2-6

12th November 2019

The Christmas Gift Guide for Kids Aged 2-6I am not entirely sure why, but I do love buying presents for kids around this age. I just find that there’s so much choice and so many fun and interesting things available for this age range, and they usually still play with a wide variety of things — they’ve not yet decided that they’re too old for dolls, and usually not yet into those very expensive branded toys that you can collect and that the older ones are all obsessed with.

Even though there is lots of choice for this age, I still love finding things that I haven’t seen before and hopefully giving the children in your life something they don’t already have three versions of! I have lots of great suggestions for you for gifts for kids aged 2-6, which are fun and encourage creativity, and across a range of price points.

Paint Sticks Classic Art Station

We love Paint Sticks and have had some for a few years now. They twist up and down like a glue stick and allow you to paint without the mess and they’re so lovely to use. I much prefer using these to regular paint and a paintbrush and they’re both easier to use and way easier to clean up afterwards! I think they’re great for any age really, when you don’t fancy loads of mess but they still want to be creative and do something fun. The colours are always really bright, they work on a range of surfaces and they dry really quickly too.

This Paint Sticks Classic Art Station is brilliant. It has a fold-up, double-sided easel with a whiteboard on one side and a chalkboard on the other. It comes with 6 classic Paint Sticks, 6 Chalk Sticks, paper and a duster, and the storage cups are useful to hold them during use. It is really portable and easy to store and I’m sure most kids would love it!

Didicar

We’ll pretend this is for my daughter but really it is for me and I am so excited as adults up to 120kg can use it! I’d never come across these before but they are a brilliant simple ride-on toy. Didicar is a unique, self-propelled ride-on toy for ‘children’ that doesn’t weigh a lot so it’s easy to lift, carry and store but has a robust design that can cope with the most enthusiastic of riders.

I love that it doesn’t have any pedals or motors or require any batteries — you just turn the wheel left and right to move the Didicar forwards and then flip the wheel to go backwards. It works best on hard, smooth, flat surfaces indoors or out, including concrete, tarmac, paved surfaces and other open areas, and comes in a range of colours, including the lovely, bright teal one that we have. It’s a great gift that helps to promote exercise, physical development, balance, coordination, and spatial and speed awareness.

Disney Princess Toddler Doll

This lovely Disney Princess Jasmine doll comes dressed in her beautiful outfit and shoes with a sparkling tiara, which can all be removed and she is 35cm tall. She’s perfect for kiddos in this age range and you can get all of the Princess dolls so they can have their favourite! Ava loves hers and she plays with her a lot.

Personalised Wooden Christmas Eve Box

This is such a gorgeous box to give to a child on Christmas Eve with some little gifts in if that’s something you do. I usually get Ava a new pair of pyjamas and give them to her on Christmas Eve so I will be putting them in here and giving it to her, and then she can keep things in it afterwards.

We have the large Christmas Eve box, and it is such lovely quality and a really nice size, and you can choose from red, blue, or green and personalise it with any name. I think it’s a lovely tradition to give a child a Christmas Eve box with some small bits in every year and this handcrafted box cut from natural wood is such a lovely way to present them in.

GeoSafari Jnr Kidnoculars

These cool Kidnoculars are designed specifically for kids and have a strong waterproof design with a wrap-around soft eye section which makes it really easy for little ones to look through the binoculars. They hold their face in the correct position and keep things steady, whilst blocking out the peripheral vision, and come with a neck strap with a special breakaway safety feature, which is great.

The Geosafari Jnr Kidnoculars make a great gift to encourage little ones to explore and interact with the world around them, whilst being nice and sturdy and comfortable and lightweight for them to hold. They have a nice clear 2x magnification and make the perfect first pair of binoculars.

Mr Tumble Learning Pad

This is a great toy for younger kids who love Mr Tumble, helping them to learn shapes, letters, numbers, colours and sounds. It has a touch-sensitive colourful printed screen, which when pressed plays fun sounds and facts. It also includes 6 games to encourage learning and has a soft, rounded shape, perfect for little hands.

Where’s Name Personalised Hardback Book

These are such lovely books and make a wonderful gift that they can keep and hopefully cherish. Ava was given one for her first Christmas and she still loves reading it now. I’ve ordered two of the hardback books for my nephews and I can’t wait to give them to them — they are super sweet with their photo throughout the pages and I think they’ll love seeing them and their name in a book.

The illustrations in the book are lovely and the storyline is simple and engaging, capturing all the rituals of Christmas from building a snowman to leaving out a mince pie for Father Christmas, all whilst including the child themselves as the main character in the story. You can also add a personal message from you to the child at the front of the book which makes it a lovely keepsake.

Where to buy: It’s Your Story RRP £22.00

Blume Dolls

BLUME dolls come hidden inside flower pots and then you add a little bit of water to them to see who grows! Which BLUME doll you get is a surprise until they grow and they each feature unique, over-the-top hairstyles and outfits that can be interchanged with other dolls. The flower pot itself comes packed with 10+ surprises that include fashion shoes, a sticker sheet, and a mini friend, as well as a secret playset. This is exactly the type of thing that my daughter loves so much and she’ll be so excited to see which one she gets! There are 22 BLUME dolls to collect.

Pomsies Lumies

Lumies are fun and interactive plush pets that change colours! The lovable, rainbow-charged pom pom pets interact with colour in magical ways — with a simple tap, Lumies can match any colour and even turn colours into musical beats to 1, 000 possible mixes! Keep them feeling happy and balanced by “feeding” them with colour and they’ll react with over 100 sounds and phrases depending on their mood and the colours you find.
