The Christmas Party Style Edit // An Alternative to the Dress

13th December 2016

‘Tis the season to be jolly, fa la la la la, la la la la…

Christmas Party Style Edit

It’s December! The Christmas party season is upon us, so we’re all going to be at endless late-night soirees dressed in sequins and black tie aren’t we? Well, you might be anyway. I’ll most likely be snuggled up at home in leggings and a big jumper. BUT! If you do have lots of fun gatherings to attend over Christmas, or even if you get a bit dressed up on Christmas day, then my Christmas Party Style Edit may help you find that perfect piece to wear.

I only have one Christmas event to go to at the moment, which is pretty lame even for me (the boy has three!), but I quite fancy dressing up a bit more on Christmas day and the other days with family after that. Because when else can you get away with being covered in glitter, sparkles and sequin Christmas puddings? Especially at 32 years old.

I’m kind of obsessed with sparkly things this year. Metallics and glitter seem to be very on trend right now, and not just because it’s Christmas. I never thought I would like metallic clothing so much, but I am seemingly lusting after it all. I think I could have chosen every single item in this edit to be sparkly.

I realised after I got all these bits together that there wasn’t a single dress involved, when I’d planned on it mostly being dresses! Maybe it’s because I’m freezing right now, and the thought of getting my legs out and having to go outside makes me want to curl up in a ball, or maybe I’m just feeling the jeans and gorgeous top or blouse combo, but I do like it. It means that you can get more wear out of all of them, and you can easily dress an outfit up with some (sparkly) shoes.

I really love a nice body (ha!) at the moment, I think they look lovely with some high-waisted jeans and heels for an evening out. I love all of these three (1, 2, 3) from Topshop – they’re all very sexy and I love the colours and the sparkle on the black one. I think because they are so figure hugging and you’ll be revealing some skin on your top half, then high-waisted jeans or trousers work best.

I’m still very much enjoying the cold shoulder trend and I really love this beautiful embellished Topshop jumper – I think it would be lovely for Christmas day, when you just want to be comfy, but still wear something a bit more dressy.

I want these gold embellished boots SO much, and I never thought I’d like them. I’m not allowed them because I know full well I’d hardly wear them, but I so want them to be mine

I’m like a magpie at the moment, so I love this sequin polo neck top from Topshop (although it is crazy expensive for a top that you probably wouldn’t wear loads), and these metallic denim leggings from Next.

I’m excited to finally have a reason to dress up a little bit, and I can’t to dress head to toe in sequins and look like a Christmas tree!

Are you into all the sparkles, like me – or is it a bit too much for you? Which is your favourite item out of all of these?
