There isn’t much Ava loves more than browsing YouTube on the iPad for as long as I’ll let her and finding new programmes, and weird ‘unwrapping things’ to watch. Sometimes she’ll come across something which I don’t really like her watching – it may seem a bit grown up for her, or too aggressive.
But something I think she’d really like is the new DC Super Hero Girls. DC Entertainment’s latest animated series features a dynamic group of Super Heroes on their journey of discovering the power of their unique abilities and friendships. It is exactly the kind of thing Ava loves to watch and reminds me a lot of My Little Pony, which she also really likes. The show has a good old dose of girl power, with dynamic characters – from strong and fearless to edgy and fun.
The fact that DC Super Hero Girls is on YouTube means that it is easy for kids to watch their favorite characters, on-demand, and from any device. For some reason Ava particularly loves watching things on YouTube, maybe because there is an unlimited amount of fun things to watch. I’ve watched a bit of DC Super Hero Girls, and already can’t stop singing ‘Get your cape oooooon’ in my beeeeautiful singing voice.
The website for the show has an extended online experience where kids can play games, download free printable activities, and more, which is pretty cool.
