Email to my Daughter

11th August 2012

I’ve decided to set up an email account for baby girl so that her Daddy, Grandparents and I can email her. We’ll use it to share stories with her, tell her what she’s like at that moment in time, send her photos, and just let her know how much she is loved as she grows up. Then, when she’s old enough I’ll pass the email account over to her so she can read it all and have something special from her childhood to keep.

I got the idea from this lovely advert from Google:

Here is my very first email to her, written today. I won’t be sharing any more of them because I want them to be for her eyes only but I decided to share this one.

Hi my beautiful girl. It’s mummy here. This is your first email! I know that because I haven’t given anyone else your email address yet! Keeping you all to myself for a little bit 🙂

You’re just over 7 months old now and you’re the best thing that’s ever happened to me. I start crying (in a good way) just looking at you sometimes. When Daddy makes you giggle, my heart melts. It’s the most beautiful sound in the world.

You’re asleep in your yellow bouncer in front of me right now in the lounge at our house. You’re the most beautiful thing in the world. Everybody loves you and you love the attention! When you’re having fun with Daddy or me you always look to the other one of us to see if we’re watching! It’s so cute.

For the last three nights you’ve suddenly become a much better sleeper. You even slept through two nights! After waking every couple of hours for a few weeks this has made me very happy and excited! I can only be a better mummy with more sleep. You have decided you’re a tummy sleeper and who am I to argue? Granny always told me you would be, apparently you come from generations of tummy sleepers.

I better go now, before you wake up. Hey, if you ever fancy napping longer than half an hour I wouldn’t mind! It’s ok though.

I’m so happy you’re finally here. We waited a long time for you sweetheart. I feel like the luckiest mummy in the world every time I look at you. Sometimes when I’m ridiculously tired and I’ve finally got you to sleep I can’t help staring at you when I really should be sleeping myself.

I still check you’re breathing many times each night. I’m not sure I’ll ever stop.

I still can’t believe I have a daughter!

I love our snuggles, I love breastfeeding you, I love it when you fall asleep in my arms (sadly not very often any more), I love your beautiful brown eyes and your giggle. I love how you get excited when I sing Baa Baa Black Sheep to you and how you go crazy jumping in your Jumperoo. I love it when I look at you and catch you looking at me and smiling. I love you from the top of those fine sticky out hairs on the top of your head, down to those chunky little toes you like to put in your mouth. I love you more than you’ll ever know sweet girl. To Daddy and I you are our world.

I love you.

Lots of love, Mummy xxxxxxxx

  1. This is beautiful and such a great idea. Going to do the same when I have my midgets.
