First Dates, Love, and Penguins #LittleLoves

16th December 2016

Oh what a week! Since last Friday Ava has been quite poorly and it has been hard and horrible. She’s had a raging fever, been in pain with a head and tummy ache, and was throwing up for days. She’s only eaten a tiny bit since last Friday and now she’s so lethargic and still suffering, and she is very, very grumpy. She’s been off school for a week now which means that my mammoth lists of things to do before Christmas has barely been touched, and I’m feeling a wee bit overwhelmed. I am glad it’s happened now though so that she’s hopefully well over Christmas – I’m trying to cling on to feeling grateful about that for now.

Welcome to this weeks Little Loves!

Read

My mammoth lists of things to do before Christmas. That is all.

Watched

The Good Wife when I’ve actually had a chance in the evenings to sit down. I also watched the First Dates episode with the fashion blogger Carl Thompson and Marissa, and oh my goodness I thought it was so cute! I’m aware this sounds cheesy as hell, but the excitement they had at how much they liked each other and the potential of a future together was incredibly lovely to see and really made me smile (I needed any reason to do that this week!). I was pretty gutted that it didn’t work out for them after a few dates, to be honest, but it was still lovely to watch. *Hashtag loser*

Heard

This. ❤︎

Wore

Leggings, t-shirts, jumpers, dressing gowns, no make-up. I didn’t leave the house for days on end so that’s about the extent of it.

I did wear this Christmassy jumper last week though:

Made

Very little as always! Again, I had lots of plans to do some Christmas baking with Ava but we obviously haven’t been able to do that. I did finally paint this corner cabinet though – it was my Granny’s and then my uncles, and then he wanted it to stay in the family so when he moved he gave it to me. I really wanted to keep it but the dark wood just didn’t go in our house, so I decided to paint it so it would fit better (I did check with him first!). I need to do a few touch ups still (clearly!), but it fits so much better in my dining room now.

And lastly…

Is it January yet?! Bah humbug. I’m looking forward to Christmas and some time off really, and I can’t wait to see my mum and some wider family again, but I’d just like to sleep for a day or two first please, and then wake up with all of my presents wrapped, a clean house, and a beautifully decorated tree in the corner of the living room (No we haven’t got it yet, the decorations are still in the attic, including Hooey, our elf – I’m winning at Christmas this year).

Hope you’ve had a lovely week and are feeling very organised! xxx

Poor Ava! That sickness bug is the worst isn’t it? It’s horrible to feel so helpless as a parent when our little ones are poorly.
Love that corner cabinet, the colour is beautiful and you’ve done a wonderful job.
    Have a lovely weekend xx

  2. Oh no poor Ava having a whole week off school, sounds horrible for you both. Hope she is on the mend soon. We started watching the Good Wife about 6 months ago, but for some reason stopped after a few episodes. We really must get back into it. Love your penguin jumper as it’s understated Christmas which I love. Hope you manage to get organised over the weekend #littleloves x

  3. Oh no, what an awful bug to strike during one of the busiest weeks of the year! I really hope she recovers fully in time to enjoy Christmas and that you don’t catch it too. Hurrah for The Good Wife though, I always get overexcited when I see someone enjoying that show. Love the corner cabinet! You’ve done it very well, it looks as though it should’ve always been that way. Have a good weekend x #LittleLoves

Sorry to hear that your little one has been ill. It’s so awful at any time, let alone when you feel like you have so much to do to prepare for Christmas. Work has been manic for me too, we haven’t got our tree up yet either – I haven’t finished shopping or even thought about the food shop. Eek! Enjoy your weekend xx

Poor Ava. Hope she’s better really soon. Such a horrid time of year for bugs. My Z went through a whole phase of singing that John Legend song to my mum and would say “come on, sing Nani!” 🙂

Sorry Ava has been poorly! Its all going round at the moment isn’t it? The corner cabinet looks amazing! Love John Legend, and that song! Loving the Christmas jumper! Have a wonderful weekend #littlelove xx

What a lovely upcycle project I love painting old furniture. Looks great. Sorry to hear bugs have hit but get them over now before the xmas festivities for sure. I am the same reading nothing but my forever lasting to do list. Just popping over and catching up on everyone’s #littleloves. Hope you are having a lovely weekend. Happy Holidays.
