Getting to know New Bassetts Vitamins Omega-3 + Multivitamins Orange Flavour Pastilles

19th October 2018

What my daughter eats has always been very important to me, and I have always tried to make sure that she doesn’t have too much salt or sugar, especially when she was very young. I’m probably a bit more strict than some parents, but especially when she was a baby or a toddler I didn’t see the point in her having chocolate or very sweet things – she didn’t need them and didn’t know what she was missing out on so I didn’t really give her them. She ate very well and enjoyed her food, and from a pretty young age she usually had the same varied, homecooked meals as us, and ate with us too.

I used to hear people mentioning their young children having vitamins but as far as I was concerned (and from what I had read) as she was breastfed and as I had a pretty healthy diet, I didn’t think she really needed them. She also had a very varied diet so I was happy that she was healthy.

Fast-forward five or so years and whilst she still has a decent diet and a home-cooked meal almost every night, she is a lot fussier than she used to be. She also has a taste for crisps, chocolate and anything else that isn’t good for her, and whilst I do still limit unhealthy foods, she does have a lot more than she used to and doesn’t always eat that well. School meals also worry me a bit as there are lots of puddings (so she always expects a pudding now – which she doesn’t get!), and not the healthiest of meals. She also has a strong aversion to fruit, which is very frustrating, especially when I see so many kids loving fruit like raspberries and blueberries.

So I’ve been thinking for a while that I feel like some multivitamins would be beneficial for her. I take quite a few different vitamins, so it makes sense that I would give Ava some too, to make sure she is getting some of those things that might be missing from her diet. Though, just a reminder, that multivitamins aren’t a substitute for a healthy and balanced diet.

I’m pretty fussy about what is in the vitamins I take, and it is obviously even more important to me what is in multivitamins for Ava. Bassetts Vitamins have just launched some Omega-3 + Multivitamins Orange Flavour Pastilles that are made with natural flavours and colours, and contain no added sugar. They come in a chewable pastille form and I was really excited for Ava to try them and see what she thought, especially as a fussy eater who knows her own mind!*

I think there would have been no chance of me getting her to eat a vitamin in tablet form, but these orange flavoured multivitamins come in a chewy pastille form, so they’re easy to take.

I was a little bit worried that she wouldn’t like them and I wouldn’t be able to get her to take one every day, but she loves them! She said “it tastes nice; it tastes a bit like orange juice and it’s squidgy”. I’ve tried them too and they are really nice, and I actually want to take them every day myself! I’m so pleased that she likes them and actually asks to take her multivitamin each day, which is so helpful when I have enough to remember!

I asked Ava if she could draw a picture of what she thought these Bassetts Vitamins Omega-3 + Multivitamins Orange Flavour Pastilles taste like, and here’s what she drew!

I did think at first that she thought they taste like a cocktail and a planet, but apparently these beautiful artistic drawings are actually a glass of orange juice, an orange, and for some reason she also thinks they taste like a lemon too!

It makes me happy knowing that Ava’s health is getting a bit of support from these new multivitamins with omega 3, especially without it being a faff trying to get her to take it every day. As well as containing Omega 3 fatty acids, they also contain Vitamin B6 to support normal psychological function and Vitamin B5 which contributes to mental performance, to support a smart way to start the day. They’re easy to take and because Ava enjoys them I think we will find it really easy to incorporate them into our mornings, however much of a rush we are in!

I love that Bassetts Multivitamins support my child’s ongoing growth, development and mental performance, and she loves that they taste good!

Bassetts Vitamins Omega-3 + Multivitamins Orange Flavour Pastilles are priced at an RRP of £5.50 for a pack of 30 pastilles.

Do you give your children a multivitamin? Do you think they would like these chewy orange-flavoured ones from Bassetts?
