Gordon Castle Scotland Bath & Beauty {A Review}

11th June 2015

Gordon Castle in North-East Scotland is a family-owned 15th century castle with a beautiful walled garden, which is being lovingly restored to it’s former glory. Gordon Castle have recently launched a range of natural luxury beauty products from which the ingredients have been grown within this garden.

Gordon Castle Walled Garden Review

The range encompasses the walled garden’s freshness and vitality, with luxury candles, bath oils, hair care and body products in lovely-sounding scents such as ‘The Herb Garden’ and ‘The Orangery’. The products contain natural essential oils and infusions from the flowers, fruits and herbs, all grown in the walled garden at Gordon Castle.

I was sent both the Herb Garden candle and the Orangery bath oil to enjoy. The packaging and design of the products is all very lovely – modern, elegant and luxurious.

The candle is beautiful, with frosted white glass and the company’s logo subtle and pretty. It looks expensive and I’m very happy to have it sitting on show in my house. It combines rosemary and thyme essential oils from the Walled Garden ‘to soothe the mind and restore the senses’.  The Herb Garden scent is beautiful and fresh and very real-smelling. It is herby without being overwhelming. I am very fussy with candles; so many give me a headache and I end up blowing them out – but not this one. It is not too strong – when it is burning you catch a gentle whiff every so often; it is not too intense and that is what I like about it. The smell definitely lasts though.

The Orangery bath oil is also really nice. The glass bottle looks stylish and sleek. It contains lime and lemon myrtle essential oils to ‘uplift the senses and refresh the body’. I really like the smell of this oil, and it feels lovely in the bath. I love using an oil in my bath; it always feels like a treat, and my skin always feels so soft afterwards. The bath oil has no artificial fragrances, colours, parabens, glycols, sulphates, phtalates, petrochemicals and the products are not tested on animals – which makes me love these products even more.

The candle costs £24 and the bath oil is £16 for 100ml. I think they would both make very nice gifts; I love candles and I think this is a decent price for a premium candle with beautiful packaging and natural ingredients.

The range of bath and beauty products can be purchased from the Gordon Castle website, or from Not on the High Street.

I was sent this bath oil and candle to review, but all thoughts and opinions are my own.
