If like our newest royal couple – AKA Prince Harry and Meghan Markle – you are in the process of planning your wedding for spring or summer 2018, then you may be at the wedding breakfast stage.
Of all the planning stages of your big day, this is often one of the most difficult parts to plan, because there is just so much to think about. From the price of your wedding breakfast to selecting foods that not only everyone likes but that are suitable for the various allergies and intolerances that your guests may have.
There is also the question of how unique you want your wedding to be. If you don’t fancy serving a traditional wedding breakfast, then you may want to think outside of the box to come up with some different approaches to catering your wedding.
To help you to do that below is some wedding day food ideas and inspiration that you can use to help you select the ideal dishes to serve on your big day.
Antipasti and cheese
For a relaxed, casual, summer wedding, antipasti and cheese could be the ideal food to serve. Think sundried tomatoes, olives, and anchovies, dry cured meats like salami, chorizo, and prosciutto, and a variety of cheeses, chutneys, crackers and breads. If you are really into cheese and want to keep the theme going, you could even opt to invest in cheese cakes instead of (or as well as) a more traditional wedding cake. This may be a more casual approach to wedding day dining, but it could also be a highly successful one.
Hire a pizza truck
Everyone loves pizza, so if you are happy to take a more casual approach to your wedding breakfast, then perhaps hiring a pizza truck could be the answer. There are some incredible pizza companies out there that offer freshly made, stone baked pizza to order. Perhaps you could hire a pizza truck to make personalised pizzas for each of your wedding guests? Or, you could hire a pizza oven and chefs to cook on-site. Either way, pizza could make a fantastic dining option for your wedding day, just make sure that it’s gourmet-style pizza. Make sure that whatever pizza company you use offers a gluten-free and vegan pizza option.
Do you love cakes, scones and finger sandwiches? Then perhaps an afternoon tea could be the ideal wedding breakfast. Just think how incredible you could make it – from a vast selection of sandwiches to every cake and scone imaginable, you could easily come up with some incredibly unique afternoon tea ideas. Love the vintage look? Then perhaps you could have the food served on vintage-style cake stands and served with vintage plates, cups and silverware? The more creative you can be with your afternoon tea, the better. For anyone with allergies, you can get gluten, dairy or egg free cakes, scones and sandwiches, there are also plenty of vegan options available.
So there you have it, a selection of slightly different wedding breakfast ideas that will ensure that the food you serve on your big day is a soaring success with every single guest.
