School Run Style: Winter Dressing

20th December 2017

How bloody cold has it gone suddenly? I feel like a snowman every time I do the school runs and I’ve suddenly needed to wear a lot more clothes and dig out my gloves and scarves. I feel like every year I’m once again shocked at how cold it gets, like an idiot.

I do like that the cold weather means I can throw a big snuggly jumper on with a pair of jeans (or leggings let’s be honest!) with a big coat, boots and a scarf and be done. When it’s so dark and cold and quite often miserable, I don’t care too much what I’m wearing for the school run to be honest – everyone else just wants to get out of the cold as quickly as they can too!

But it’s still nice to feel nice, in lovely cosy jumpers, or cardies, with a nice coat and hat, but that are still easy to chuck on (I swear I repeat that phrase every time I do a ‘style’ post!). I love a nice jumper or sweatshirt that covers any lumps and bumps (mince pies) and even better if it doesn’t need ironing!

So I thought I would bring together some of the lovely clothes that are around in the shops at the moment and those on my winter wishlist – clothes that are perfect for chucking on, on those tiring, dark, and icy school run mornings, that still make you look slightly put together, and not like a walrus wrapped in a duvet with a pine cone on it’s head (mum bun).

Next has some really great jumpers in this year at such good prices compared to other shops. I love (and have) this striped one with bell sleeves and it’s so comfy and cosy with the wide sleeves. It comes in three other colours too and I’d really like the red one. I’ve seen loads of people (mainly bloggers!) wearing this but that doesn’t bother me.

I also have this pale pink cosy jumper from Topshop (now in the sale!) and I love it. It’s easy to throw on with jeans and is long enough to cover your bum. I find a lower neckline like this much more flattering that a higher neck on me and this is the perfect shape. I love the colour too.

For a bit of a break from jeans, or if you want to be slightly smarter then I think leather or faux leather trousers like these Topshop ones are brilliant. They look so cool and effortless but can still be pretty comfy if you get the right ones. Or for something a bit thicker than leggings, for winter are these scuba leggings which are ideal for school run comfort.

I love a good chunky cardy with a t-shirt and jeans and this bright red one from Next is perfect for winter. I love the big baggy sleeves for keeping you extra warm and snuggly.

Scarves are brilliant in the wintertime for brightening up a plainer outfit and I really love this checked Topshop one. This pale pink pom pom hat from Topshop is really lovely for winter and will keep you nice and warm on the school run!

Are you someone who likes to make an effort on the school run, or do you not really give a shit?! I think I’m a bit of a mixture depending on how much sleep I’ve had!
