Sexy Dancing, Cold Shoulders, and Cake! #LittleLoves

20th January 2017

Ahhh January, how I hate you, you bastard.

Little Loves | Birds and Lilies
Actually January started off ok for me, but then this week has been a shitty one; I’ve been ill in bed and then just felt lower and lower as the week’s gone by. So seriously, thank F**K it’s Friday. I need the weekend, and sleep and time chilling with my girl. I just need good people around me right now, and luckily – I have lots of ’em!

This too shall pass, hey.

Welcome to this week’s Little Loves!

Read

I started reading a bit of the book ‘Capture Your Style‘ by popular Instagrammer, Aimee Song. I’m really into Instagram and mobile photography at the moment and right now I’m really enjoying making my photos look pretty, so this book sounded right up my street and got lots of great reviews. There’s loads of different subjects in it about photography and instagram such as flatlays (that I’ve started enjoying creating) and working with brands; and I’m looking forward to flicking through more of it.

Watched

I finished Gilmore Girls: A Day in the Life! Pretty gutted to have finished it all once again to be honest. It took a little bit of time to get back into the swing of things – for them and for me, so I felt, but that charm that I love so much is still there and I fell right back into their lovely world, and hurrah for an ending that suggests more seasons!!

After that I started watching Shooter with Ryan Philippe. I didn’t realise until near the end of the season that it’s one of those that comes on to Netflix one episode a week, or that it was so new – so I’m a bit annoyed that I’ve only got one episode left now. I’ve really enjoyed it and like the main characters a lot – I’d say it’s a bit like 24 or Homeland, but with a hotter male lead. Sorry, Kiefer I still love you too…

Heard

I have an Amazon Echo Dot now so I’ve been listening to a lot more music recently and listening to songs that I don’t know from particular artists, which is nice. I just ask my friend Alexa to play ‘James Bay’ and she does. So I’ve been listening to this lovely tune quite a bit this week.

Also, a couple of months ago I saw a clip of a dance from Dancing With the Stars on Facebook – the dance was sexy as hell and I fell in love with the song that they danced to. I adore watching dancing like this, although it hurts my heart a bit that I don’t do it myself (maybe this is the year to finally start!). I found out the song is actually Selena Gomez, which I wasn’t expecting, and I’ve been listening to ‘Hands to Myself’ ever since. Here is the dance if you’d like a peek.

Made

I made these blueberry and raspberry banana pancakes in hopes of trying to get a bit of fruit into my anti-fruit-eating child but the eagle-eyed beaver spotted the pink bits and wouldn’t eat them until I removed all traces. The blueberries passed for extra burnt bits though so that was a win!Little Loves | Birds and Lilies

As we were away in Whitby over Ava’s birthday, my sister and Dad came round to celebrate it with her a couple of weekends ago – my sister made this amazing triple layer chocolate cake – the kind where you cut it open and all the colourful sweets pour out. It looked very cool and tasted amazing and Ava was very impressed. We know where all the baking genes went in my family now don’t we?

Wore

We went to London for a night last weekend and in the evening I wore this top from ASOS. It’s quite hard to tell but it has a slightly higher neck and is the cold shoulder style that I’m slightly obsessed with at the moment.

And I got my nails did – I don’t normally like sparkly nails except for at Christmastime, but I did rather enjoy my red glittery Christmas nails, so I was drawn to this new black glitter Shellac and I really like it. I tend to always go for a bright red so it makes a nice change.

And lastly…

I haven’t seen my step-brother who lives in New Zealand for around seven years, which means I’ve never met his two children and he’s never met Ava, which makes me very sad. BUT, he’s finally coming over with his daughter for a few weeks in February and I can’t wait to see him and finally meet his daughter! I’m so excited! I think her and A will have a brilliant time together – it’s just a shame Ava has to go to school whilst they’re here!

I hope you’ve had a grand old week xxx

  1. Oh gosh, I totally feel you on the crappy week. Literally this morning, as I dragged myself out of bed, my partner said ‘Friday today’ and I responded with ‘Thank f**k’.

The pancakes and cake both look delicious!

Oh, how lovely it’ll be seeing family you haven’t in a long time. Although they aren’t coming till Feb, it’s something nice to look forward to.

I hope you have a lovely weekend!

The pancakes and cake look yummy. I’ve been making blueberry and raspberry pancakes for my girls. Fortunately they both like fruit. The book sounds really interesting. #littleloves

  5. Sorry you’ve had a crappy week, hope the weekend is going better for you. Love your nails. I’m the same as you, no glitter unless it’s Christmas but I’ve been wearing glittery nails every day this year so far. How lovely you’ll get to see your step brother and his little girl soon. Those pancakes look gorgeous, I never thought about cooking the fruit into the banana pancake batter (I’m obsessed with those as it is), might try doing it with my fruit dodging little one. Have a good week x

Loving your top and your nails. I’ve not got any cold should style tops, but think I might have to change that 😉
