Next month, the 61st BFI London Film Festival in partnership with American Express® is taking place, and will be bringing the best of British and International filmmaking talent to our capital for twelve days.

Excitingly, this year, American Express want to allow those of us not based in London to enjoy the benefits of being a Cardmember. These benefits include getting access to some of the most talked about films during the BFI Film Festival before anyone else, through the American Express Cardmember pre-sale, plus getting to enjoy the wonderful glitz and glamour of the red carpet, first hand.

The Opening Night Gala of the 61st BFI London Film Festival takes place on Wednesday 4th October, and very excitingly, the gala will be coming to Nottingham! There will be a stream of the live red carpet event at Cineworld Nottingham followed by the European premiere of Andy Serkis’ directorial debut, Breathe. And you could be one of the first people to get access to these limited seats and see this exciting film, for free, in Nottingham!

The film looks amazing (and very emotional! I’m getting my tissues ready), and I’m so excited to be going to watch the premiere of it in Nottingham. Breathe stars Andrew Garfield (Hacksaw Ridge) as Cavendish, and Claire Foy (The Crown) as his wife Diana, and is released in cinemas across the UK and Ireland on 27th October 2017.

Breathe is an inspirational love story about two people who defy the odds and pave the way for change. Based on the true story of producer Jonathan Cavendish’s parents, Breathe portrays the life of the adventurous Robin Cavendish and self-assured Diana, whose lives change forever when Robin contracts polio and is given only weeks to live.

With Diana determined that her husband’s life should not be restricted by medical and social prejudice, she ignores all advice and breaks him out of hospital. Diana gets help from her twin brothers, as well as her friend Teddy – an Oxford professor who invents a wheelchair with a respirator attached – and goes on to create an environment in which Robin can thrive and live a full life.

Breathe demonstrates the incredible relationship between this courageous and inspirational real-life couple, whilst also illuminating the broader impact that they had on progressing mobility and access for people with disabilities.

Check out the trailer for the film below:

I love the look of Breathe, and can’t wait to see it on the 4th  October, and you could be there too!

We’ve got the opportunity to get a taste of all the live action and glamour on the Opening Night of the 61st BFI London Film Festival! Of course there are a limited number of seats available, so be quick to sign up for them so you don’t miss out.

The screening in Nottingham will be at Cineworld Nottingham (The Cornerhouse, 29 Forman St) on Wednesday 4th October.
