The Friday Five

16th February 2018

Well hello there, my lovelies!

We made it through another week! For those of you who have had half term this week I hope you have had a really fun week and some happy and joyful children who relished spending time with you and behaved impeccably… and if not – it’s almost over!!

Little Loves

Ava breaks up today, and whilst I would usually be really looking forward to the break (and I am a bit), she has been a right royal pain in the arse over the last couple of weeks. She doesn’t listen to a word I say, smirks when I tell her off, and won’t go to sleep at night – which I know is the problem in itself – she’s overtired, and ergo, becomes bloody hard work and not her usual lovely self. Because she’s overtired, she then fights sleep for hours at bedtime, and so it continues. Life is fun right now!

Plus work has started to finally pick up again, so it’s typical that it’s now half term, right when I’m desperate to get stuck in. Hurrah for no school runs for a bit though! The week A goes back is a super busy one at her school, with loads going on for World Book Day, a visit from a famous illustrator, pyjama day, a sponsored fitness thing with an Olympian, and a million things for me to remember, so we definitely need some chill out time first!

Here are five things.

One. I have a couple of things planned for our half term week. I’ve wanted to go to a trampolining place with her for absolutely ages, so we’re finally going to do that one day. She has already been to one a few months ago for a party – that seems to keep happening actually… I plan on taking her somewhere she’s never been, and then she gets invited to a bloody party first. I’ve been planning on taking her ice skating for the first time soon – so of course she’s going to a skating party in a couple of weeks. It’s clearly a sign that I need to pull my finger out.

Then she’s also desperate to go horse riding (as am I), so I’m going to look into us doing that one day as a surprise for her. I’m so excited about that, I’d love to go horse riding regularly but alas, it is so expensive. I’m looking forward to some fun days out with her anyway, and hopefully we’ll get chance to see some friends too.

Two. I’ve been failing a bit at being consistent with my fitness again. Life has been a bit up in the air recently and I’m all over the place, so I just haven’t made the time to fit it in every day, which is infuriating. I’m so ready to feel better about myself, but it just isn’t happening. I’m off to do another kettlebell workout in a minute though!

Three. This year was supposed to be better than the shitstorm of last year, wasn’t it? I’m still waiting and hopeful, 2018.

Four. Nothing bad showed up on the CT scan that I had for the large cysts on my ovary, which is brilliant and a relief. So I’m just back to my normal three-monthly checks now. The cysts are large so my consultant really wants to remove everything, but I’m pretty set on not removing my one remaining ovary whilst I want more children (you can read about why I had my other removed here). I feel like I’m in a limbo most of the time, on a weird, possibly non-existent but also likely, countdown to being able to have a baby before I really do need to have everything removed. I feel like my head is so full and confused constantly that I can’t think straight about anything, and I really need to work on de-stressing and taking time out.

Five. Let’s go for something more positive shall we?! The bright blue skies that we’ve had over the last couple of days have felt so good after days of pouring rain and bitter winds, and it’s really got me excited for spring and warmer days, and new buds blossoming all around us. I can’t believe we’re heading towards the end of February already, but I just want it to keep shuffling by until the days get longer and brighter and everything feels more optimistic!

What do you have planned for the weekend – anything exciting? Let me know in the comments. Whatever you get up to I hope you have a wonderful one…
