This Is Us and Faking Friends #LittleLoves

9th February 2018

It’s Friiiiiiday!

Hello there, how are you? I hope you are really well. I still feel like absolute crap and it’s doing my head in rather a lot, so it really has been about the little things this last couple of weeks.

Welcome to this weeks Little Loves!

Read

I’ve actually read a book! I’ve been ill with flu for the last couple of weeks and so I’ve been forced into relaxing a bit. I’ve actually tried to start a few books over the last few months and just struggled to find anything that grabs me immediately, which is what I needed, so I’m so pleased I finally found something that I was into straight away.

I’ve been reading ‘Faking Friends‘ by Jane Fallon and it’s a really easy and enjoyable read. I really liked it right from the start, and I’ve stayed up far too late a couple of times reading it. I’ve read it so quickly, and whilst I did think the first half was best, I’ve still really enjoyed it.

It’s about a woman called Amy, who finds out her best friend has been living with her fiance whilst she’s been away in New York, and the fallout and plots for revenge that lead on from that. It’s a great easy read if you’re looking for something like that!

I’m determined to make reading every day, part of my life again – it really helps to get away from real life for a bit and unwind. I’m trying to make it part of my nightly routine, although I always find it so hard to stop when I love a book so I also have to learn to have some self-control, and put the damn book down at a decent time still!

Watched

I started watching ‘This Is Us‘ a couple of weeks ago and my god it is amazing and lovely and wonderful. I haven’t really heard anyone talk about it yet apart from my friend Zara, which is surprising. I haven’t watched it for a bit because it’s addictive straight away and I just know I’ll stay up all night watching it if I go there again. But it’s so lovely and really worth a watch. It’s described as ‘a smart, modern dramedy that will challenge your everyday presumptions about the people you think you know’ and it’s from the writer and directors of Crazy, Stupid, Love. I can’t wait to keep watching it.

I’ve also started ‘Catastrophe’ again from the beginning and still think it’s bloody brilliant. I’m not often bothered about watching things again, but I’m really enjoying this. I love that the episodes are pretty short too so I can easily get through a few at once. I can’t wait for it to come back on again.

I also watched (and did) a FitnessBlender Kettlebell workout after I finally bought a Kettlebell and I bloody loved it (as much as I can love exercising!). It somehow feels easier just (kind of) swinging a thing about and I’m really looking forward to doing more.

Wore

Shall I copy and paste my last answer from my Little Loves?! I’ve pretty much lived in leggings and long tops over the last couple of weeks whilst I lay about at home feeling sorry for myself. I did have to go for a scan at hospital one afternoon and wore high-waisted jeans – I spent the entire afternoon regretting that decision and wishing I was in my comfy and stylish leggings. Yes, I love my leggings. I’ve clearly given up on any style I had over winter but I don’t care that much right now.

I can’t wait for springtime though, and wearing pretty dresses and bare legs. I’ve had enough of big coats and being cold constantly now.

Heard

I’ve been listening to quite a few of the Blogtacular podcasts, which I’ve really been enjoying, and the mini episode on the recent influencer controversies was particularly interesting. There are really great guests with fascinating backgrounds and experiences and it’s really inspiring me with my blogging and social media.

Made

I made a couple of book purchases – The Working Women’s Handbook, which Anna has raved about, and then Why We Sleep: The New Science of Sleep and Dreams which I’ve just started and is already fascinating, and making me want to make sure I get a solid eight hours sleep every night!

And lastly…

God I can’t wait for spring. I don’t think I’ve ever been more depserate for some warmer and nicer weather. The few blue-skied days we’ve been having are pretty nice, I’ll admit, but my god it is bitter out there. And for some (stupid) reason I seem to keep not wearing enough clothes when I go out, which is really annoying.

Also, I love Kristen Bell. That is all!

Hope you have a lovely weekend xxx

Has This is Us started again in the UK? I keep tweeting Channel 4 after potential spoilers keep popping up in my feed all the time.

  3. I’ve had Faking Friends on my kindle for ages, you’ve just made me want to bump it up my ‘to read’ list. I love This is Us, it’s such a good series. I caught that episode of Blogtacular’s podcast the other week too, it’s a good one. Have a great week. x

We loved Catastrophe, so funny. Sadly we missed a few in the middle and then haven’t managed to get back to watching it again. I’ve heard good things about Faking Friends. I will add it to my list 🙂 #LittleLoves
