Whitby and Ava’s Third Birthday

Over New Years we went to Whitby with the family for a few days. We have actually done that for the last few years and it’s perfect for us at the moment as it means we can put Ava to bed (she’s a bit young to stay up that late yet) and still get to celebrate with people, rather than being stuck at home on our lonesomes. It’s also Ava’s birthday on the second so we also celebrated that whilst we were there (or tried to – I’ll explain later!).

We had a lovely few days away; Ava adores spending time with her family and she pretty much ignores her daddy and I when we are with them. We walked around Whitby town centre, had fish and chips and splashed about in our wellies on the beach, it was lovely and relaxing. It was also really nice spending more time with our new nephew – he is so gorgeous!

On Ava’s birthday, we relaxed a bit in the morning and watched her open her presents and cards and then got ready to go out. The rest of the family actually went out for a walk before we left and then we were going to meet them at the park or the beach afterwards as that is where Ava wanted to go. However, we went out, and then broke down.

The car started juddering and came up with an error code, so we made our way to a local garage who checked it out and said they couldn’t find anything wrong with it; they cleared the error code and we went on our (not-so) merry way. We decided to go straight to the beach from there and the car started doing the same thing, so we had to go back to the cottage and not go to the beach, which Ava was very upset about; the poor thing.

We still went for dinner at the pub across the road and had a lovely time, it was just a shame about our unsuccessful day.

We ended up having to get our car towed all the way home the next day as it couldn’t be fixed at the side of the road, and then it still ended up being in the garage all week. Good timing car!

What a shame about your car! Still, it sounds like you had a great time anyway!
What a difference in the pictures, quite amazing to think how much they grow at this age (my youngest is 2). Your daughter is so cute and she looks so proud on her birthday!

Such bad luck with the car. I hope it’s fixed soon. I’m glad Ava’s birthday was otherwise a happy day. x
