At the beginning of the year I wasn’t watching an awful lot of TV – I was spending almost every evening working on my blog at the dining room table and talking to friends on Whatsapp. I’m not sure what changed, but now I am in desparate need of that down time every evening, and I love to just sit back with a glass of wine, and watch something to help me relax and switch off from my reality for a little bit.
We often want to watch different things so I’ll sometimes watch something on my iPad and the boy will hog the television. He’s been talking about us getting a new tv for ages – he’d like something much bigger – I didn’t think we needed to at all, but I was watching tv the other day, and suddenly thought it looked really small! So I’d actually really like to get a new one now and maybe put the one we have now in the bedroom. We’d love something like the Panasonic HDR 4K TV, which looks very cool.
The majority of things I watch now are on Netflix or Amazon Prime and there’s nothing I love more than finding a series that I get into really quickly. My current obsession is Gilmore Girls – there are seven seasons so far with another coming soon – so I thought it would last me ages, but I’m at the beginning of Season six already!
I don’t think it will be long before I finish the whole thing to be honest, so I’m in need of some new things to add to my list. There are quite a few shows that people have been talking lots about recently, so I need to check them out.
Here are a few tv shows and films that I really want to watch, and hopefully find some new series’ to get into. If you have any good ones to recommend please let me know!
5 things I want to watch on TV
I’ve heard (read) Kerry from Noah and the Girls talking about this and I keep meaning to check it out. I started watching it as research for this post and I didn’t want to switch it off, so I’m really looking forward to tonight now!
The Fall is a psychological thriller that observes the lives of two hunters. One is a serial killer who stalks his victims in and around Belfast and the other is a talented female Detective Superintendent from the MET who is set out to catch him. Sometimes I like these kind of things and sometimes I don’t, but this drew me in quickly and it looks really good. Seasons 1 and 2 are on Amazon Prime now.
I’ve watched almost a whole series of this on Netflix I think, but for whatever reason I stopped watching it, so I’d really like to get back into it again, especially as Season 2 is now available on Netflix. I think part of the reason why I’m not always in the mood to watch Narcos is because it is all subtitles, which means I can’t do any work or anything at the same time, and I don’t enjoy subtitles if I’m feeling really sleepy.
Narcos is inspired by the true story of Colombia’s infamously violent and powerful drug cartels, and Pablo Escobar’s fight to stay the most powerful of them all.
This looks really good and I can’t wait to watch it on Amazon Prime. This is another one that I started watching and then couldn’t stop – it grabbed me very quickly. I’m not totally sure yet whether it will be my kind of thing but we’ll see!
It is a family crime drama that centres on teenager J, who moves in with his freewheeling relatives in their Southern California beach town after his mother dies of an overdose. He is quickly pulled into the family’s life of excess and soon discovers that it’s all being funded by criminal activities.
I’ve started watching this already and I got into it very quickly and really enjoyed it for a while. Then I got slightly bored and I’m not sure why, but I do really like it and so I want to keep watching it.
Mr. Robot follows Elliot Alderson, a young cyber-security engineer who becomes involved in the underground hacker group fsociety, after being recruited by their mysterious leader, played by Christian Slater.
I don’t know what’s wrong with me at the moment (it may be my addiction to Gilmore Girls), but Stranger Things is another one that I’ve started and then not carried on with. I’ve only watched the first episode I think, and I didn’t love it straight away, but I’ve heard such good things about it so I really want to keep watching.
It’s about a young boy who disappears and his mother, a police chief, and his friends must confront terrifying forces in order to get him back.
Have you seen any of these tv shows? What did you think if so?
