When it comes to childcare I am pretty lucky. I work for myself so can be pretty flexible and I’m mostly able to do the school runs myself, and the mother-in-law helps out quite a bit if I have an appointment or event to go to. I would love to have my mum closer to me so she could have A sometimes too, and sometimes I’m still absolutely desperate for a break, but finding childcare isn’t something I tend to have to worry about.

I know for other people I know though, it can be a real challenge finding the right person that suits their needs, especially for single parents who need someone to look after their child every time they can’t be there – and I can’t imagine how difficult it is during the school holidays. Finding childcare can be pretty stressful – trusting someone with the most important thing in the world to you, whilst finding something at the right price and that has availability, can feel like a big task. So anything that can make the whole thing easier for us parents is a good thing.

That is where Childcare.co.uk comes in. Childcare.co.uk is the UK’s biggest online network for parents and carers. The service allows you to find local childcare – whether that be a one-time babysitter, a regular nanny or one of the other many options, really quickly and easily. It seems like such a good service, and one I had no idea existed as I’m sure lots of other parents who are searching for childcare don’t either.

The award-winning site is an online social networking platform for parents, childcare providers and private tutors, and has been used by over 1.5m since its launch in 2009. It’s really easy to register and create your profile, and then advertise your requirements – be that looking for someone to look after your children, or as a childminder looking for work. You can even search for schools and see what other parents have to say about them.

All contact is made through Childcare.co.uk’s safe and secure messaging service, and you can see reviews of the childcare providers from other parents, to ensure you find the right person. I had a quick search for a babysitter close to me and it gave me so many possible profiles to browse through – it’s great seeing all of their qualifications, experience, and any reviews left for them right there in front of you. Before if I’d wanted to hire a babysitter I wouldn’t have had a clue where to start, but now I do.
